Financial Services Board

Our firm has a good relationship with senior staff of both the FSB and SARS.

Actuaries in our firm are members of the panel of approved actuaries established by the Registrar in terms of section 15K(2)(b) of the Act. We have already been appointed by the FSB to service on more than a dozen of the Surplus Tribunals.

Actuarial Society

Actuaries from our firm are involved in a number of activities of the Actuarial Society of South Africa ("ASSA"):

• Arthur is a member of the Council of Actuarial Society of South Africa (ASSA), and is chairman of the Retirement Matters Committee of the Society.
• Colin has been involved with the Society’s African Committee and is currently serving on the committee that liaises with SAICA.
• Sanelle is involved with the Society’s Examination Committee, which sets the South African Actuarial examinations.

Wits University Arthur is an external examiner for Wits University on the Honors examination on Pension Funds. He is also supervisor for the research reports of Honors Students. Independent Peer Review In light of our independent and high quality of staff, we are often called upon by actuaries in other companies to peer review their actuarial work or to do independent actuarial work.

Our References

Our client funds have a membership of approximately 60 000 and assets of some R40 billion. Arthur Els & Associates has several new clients because of the independent actuarial services we offer.
